The Opportunity
A greenfield surgical centre will open in Charlestown in June 2025. In this vital role, you will create a dynamic team to commission the facility, and then taking charge of all day to day operation. Your focus will include elevating clinical quality, optimising patient flow and surgical efficiency, driving workforce development, expanding service delivery, and fostering staff engagement and growth across the entire team. Additionally, you will champion cost efficiency while enhancing patient and doctor satisfaction. What You’ll Do
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and ensure compliance with hospital accreditation standards, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Drive initiatives to enhance patient safety and maintain high-quality clinical outcomes across all services.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory, legal, and operational standards.
- Manage and supervise practical aspects of care delivery, including bed management, patient flow strategies, patient demand forecasting, and workforce management.
- Implement systematic workforce planning and support the professional development of the clinical workforce to meet organisational goals.
- Support growth initiatives, business development, and respond to needs identified by the Executive team and Ramsay Health Care.
- Liaise with the visiting medical officer (VMO) community to ensure the delivery of the highest quality clinical care.
- Plan and maintain hospital and departmental budgets, ensuring budgetary requirements are met in collaboration with other executive team members.
- Assess workplace culture and implement strategies to support findings, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
- Responsible for WHS & Quality compliance
- Support administrative, catering & environmental roles through direct management
What You’ll Bring

- Function as a proficient clinical operator with a solid understanding of the private hospital legislative landscape.
- Demonstrate sound resource management skills to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of all departments.
- Possess an understanding of the performance levers driving quality business outcomes and have experience in applying quality improvement processes.
- Demonstrate a passion for the success and development of people, coupled with expert communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Senior management experience in the private health sector, leading organisational change and quality improvement processes.
- Exhibit knowledge and understanding of clinical governance and patient safety.
Essential Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Post-graduate clinical qualifications.
About The Hospital
Ramsay Surgical Centre Charlestown, is a brand new surgical facility to open in June 2025. The centre will consist of 2 dedicated endoscopy rooms. 3 MOHS treatment rooms, 2 operating theatres and 12 inpatient beds. The centre will work closely with our sister hospitals in the region, Lake Macquarie & Warners Bay Private Hospitals.

The role will report to the National CEO – Ramsay Surgical Centres. Please note that this is a combined General Manager/ DCS role that will be responsible for all departments in the team.
