The Opportunity

The EHR Program Director is central to Ramsay Health Care's 5-year digital transformation, aiming to enhance safety, quality, and adaptability in healthcare. Initially leading the EHR readiness activities and subsequently the EHR system's design and implementation, the director will lead the transition of Ramsay's Australian operations to a digitally enabled care environment across multiple settings. Due to Ramsay's extensive clinical services, the role demands vision, complex programme management, and collaboration across clinical, operational, technology, and digital teams. The Program Director will motivate staff around Ramsay's digital future, work closely with CXIOs for patient-centric designs, and coordinate with Ramsay's Digital and Technology teams for successful delivery. Embracing digital disruption, the director must articulate EMR benefits clearly, ensure effective training, and support the best outcomes for staff and patients throughout the transition.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for the readiness, and subsequent design, configuration, implementation, and optimisation of the EHR in alignment with Ramsay Health Care's overall strategic goals and objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of the EHR program from readiness activities to establishment, and then through to completion. Provide oversight and leadership over EHR program team and governance groups to ensure progress and successful outcome. Set program standards for ways of working, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting to provide visibility and transparency of progress, risks, and issues.
  • Manage the program’s budget, including forecasting, allocation of funds, and monitoring of expenses to ensure program financial health and compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the EHR program delivery team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Negotiate and manage contracts and agreements with vendors, consultants, and other external entities to secure resources and services essential for program execution.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and performance through data analysis and stakeholder feedback, adjusting strategies and operations as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards, mitigating risks and addressing any legal issues that arise. Apply change, risk, and resource management principles when needed.
  • Work with business, clinical, digital, and technology stakeholders to envision and establish an operational transition plan. Establish processes and resources to transition ongoing support, maintenance, and optimisation to operations. 
  • Lead efforts to continuously evaluate and improve EHR systems and processes based on feedback from end-users, technological advancements, and industry best practices.

About You

To thrive in this role, you will need to combine technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities, effective communication skills, and a profound understanding of healthcare to successfully drive the implementation and adoption of EHR systems within Ramsay.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Senior program director with 10+ years of experience in healthcare IT.
  • Experience with complex EHR program management and delivery.
  • Program management certification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated expertise in project management, systems analysis, customer relations, consulting management.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead large program team to manage complex program within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Sound understanding of financial control, tracking, scheduling, and the management of inter-project dependencies.
  • Ability to clarify complex environments and build teams to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Confident in leading teams, developing ideas and concept journeys to requirements, solution definition, build, test, and implementation.
  • Experience working with architects and solution designers translating requirements to platform capabilities and designs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and customer service skills, able to deal effectively with diverse skill sets and personalities, provide strong team leadership, and work effectively as a team player.

Desirable

  • Delivery experience within the Australian Healthcare system.
  • Experience with international market leading EHR vendors (Australia, North America, Middle East, or Europe).
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to develop strong, enduring, and trusting relationships.
  • Experience managing a significant program of work across multiple states and locations.
