The opportunity

The Data and Insights Department at Ramsay Health Care enables the effective use of data and insights to improve patient services and experience, clinical outcomes and organisational performance.

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic Data Analysts with Databricks experience to join our team on a 1-year, full-time basis.

  • Senior Data Analyst (Databricks) – 1 year, full-time position
  • Data Analyst (Databricks) – 1 year, full-time position

Key Responsibilities

  • ​​​Design and direct solution and methodological design.
  • Set standards and provide quality assurance for key work streams and products, ensuring robust outcomes and adherence to best practices.
  • Investigate, manipulate, process, and analyse large, complex data sets.
  • Model data for use in Business Intelligence (BI) tools and create visualisations that tell compelling stories.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines in Databricks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in designing, building, and ensuring quality of data products to improve outcomes.

 

About You

The successful candidates will hold a strong understanding of programming languages, advanced statistical techniques and ​demonstrated proficiency in using the Databricks stack and tools for data analysis and data visualisation.  

In addition to technical expertise, the candidates should be able to communicate technical concepts with clarity and concisely to stakeholders of varying levels of seniority and technical experience.

 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, statistics, computer science, actuarial studies, data science, or equivalent.
  • For the Senior Data Analyst position, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in data analytics and BI development.
  • For the Data Analyst position, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analytics and BI development.
  • Proven ability to conduct data investigations, collect, cleanse, and merge data sets.
  • Proficient in developing and producing dashboards and data visualisations.
  • Demonstrated experience building data solutions in Databricks
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in SQL and PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated capability in communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements, test prototypes, and share results.
  • Strong track record in producing descriptive and diagnostic analytics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Adaptable to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to handle uncertainty and focus on outcomes.

 

Desirable skills, though not essential

  • Experience with healthcare data and/or working in a healthcare organisation
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. GIT or similar)
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and project management
  • Experience or understanding of UX principles and practices
  • Post graduate degree in computer science, data science, statistics, business or equivalent
  • Understanding of data lifecycle including but not limited to data ingestion, Extract-Transform-Load, data storage & joining, management of data projects, and data quality / integrity checks
  • Understanding of predictive and prescriptive analytics, data science, Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) models
